Acer Aspire One AO751h-1442 11.6-Inch White Netbook - 3+ Hour Battery Life This instant

We got our Z520 yesterday. It is as small and as light as they say it is. Works fine.

The only issues I have are ones I think you'll find on about any new computer:
* Comes with over 20 programs of "bloatware" or software I'm not going to use. Mostly games, all kinds and flavors. Took me about 30 minutes to remove all of them.
* Although it comes with XP Home, you still need to install over 30 updates from Microsoft. (To do this, connect to the Internet, bring up a browser, and go to update.[...])

The price we paid,[...], is excellent today for a 160GB 10" Netbook equipped like this one. But you're getting a 11" Netbook for the price. Good deal!

Other items to consider purchasing if you get this device:
* A netbook sleeve. ([...])
* A small mouse. The touch pad works, but it's small and I find them harder to use than a separate mouse.
* An external hard disk. You can get these drives powered by the USB port for around $100 or less now. The 160GB is a great size, but there's no DVD so you might want to put DVDs onto a hard disk using some DVD-to-ISO software and then treat them as a DVD using some ISO-Mount software.

We're planning on using this netbook on our next trip for email and skype access, photo and movie backup, that sort of thing.

Ok, as another service, here's the software I'm planning on loading on this machine. All at no cost (all is save, and free to download and use):
* AVP. antivirus software.
* Ad-Aware by Lavasoft. Use this to remove non-virus spyware.
* Open Office. Does what I need for writing documents and working with spreadsheets.
* Skype. For instant messaging and video calls using the built-in camera.
* Picasa. From Google. A great program for managing your pictures.
* Firefox. My preference over Internet Explorer.
* PDF Redirect. Instead of printing out documents you want to save, print them to a PDF file and save that.
* MagicDisk. This is the software that lets you go DVD to ISO file and then treat the ISO as a mounted DVD.
* Unlocker. When you're trying to remove a USB stick or drive and Windows won't let you because a file is open, Unlocker will help.

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1635 8.9-Inch Sapphire Blue Netbook - 2.5 Hour Battery Life Immediately

I am not sure if I am going to send this back or not. Will start off by saying in the past I was partners in a small computer business. So, know some about computers. I realize I can not compare this to my lap and desktop computers.

This netbook takes a very long time to do everything. Start up, get anywhere, go online, shut down. I had read reviews saying how fast theirs were~ what is wrong with mine? I have gone into msconfig to try to stop a zillon preinstalls from loading. It still is very slow. I turn it on, can literally go to another room, get a cup of coffee come back and it is still booting.

There seems to be a delay every time I click the mouse~ like it is trying to figure out what to do. No way I could multitask on it. The hourglass spins and spins.

I have a linksys wireless home network. Every other computer in the house connects at 16-20m. I can not get the netbook to even 5m. Facebook is impossible to use. Almost slower then dialup.

I do like the size and ease of using. It is pretty and convenient; but feel it is so slow it is close to being worthless. Taking pictures is a snap if I forget my digital camera and it runs Windows XP and not that slow Vista

Upgraded the OS to windows vista, it didnt recognise the webcam and had no driver support for it. Used it for work on the go, last week the screen went out completely. ASUS Eee PC 1000HA 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive) Pearl White Right now

After 2 months this may qualify as one of the most irritating electronic device I own. All the features are great, good battery life, decent keyboard, okay touchpad (horribly stiff buttons though). The gripe is, after 2 months with this thing, it starts freezing on me every time I use it continuously for more than 2~3 hrs. For a comp that has 5~7 hrs battery life, that's a big problem. What's more irritating and somewhat funny is whenever it's about to freeze the speaker makes this terrible static screeching noise that makes using this thing in a library a real embarrassment if it freezes. The static noise actually appears quite often while trying to load online videos such as youtube stuff, and is generally guaranteed to appear if I load more than 2 videos at once. There's really something wrong with the audio hardware/software on this thing. Allow me to describe a typical freeze: The cursor becomes unresponsive and static noises come out. But when I press hard or knuckle that little space to the right of the touchpad (above the right speaker), the noise disappears and the comp becomes responsive again. As soon as I stop doing that it continues to freeze on me. I've update the bios and every single driver I can find on the ASUS website, and still no improvement. I don't know what the hell is wrong with this thing. Cheap Acer Aspire One 531h 10.1-Inch Diamond Black Netbook - 6 Hour Battery Life

I bought my first portable computer in 1996 for $2,000US (a Dell laptop with Intel P1-250MHz), then a second one in 2002 for $1,500US (a Dell inspiron laptop P4-2000MHz/512-ram), and now this is my third portable computer an Acer Aspire One AOP 531H with Intel Atom N270 (1,600MHz), 1Gb Ram, 160GB HDD, an integrated webcam, Bluetooth and WiFi for only $350US --> WoW!

I just purchased this last week on 11/9/09. It was on clearance, and it cost me around 350USD. So far I am very happy with the overall built, features, and performance. I think this little netbook is nicely built. I was a little bit concern with the 3-cell Li-On battery that came with it. But I was wrong and I found the battery provides ample online time for me. I was using it with Bluetooth and WiFi on, and it was running for maybe 1 hour and I still have 1.5hr left to go. I think the battery might last a little bit longer if I turn off Bluetooth and Wifi.

The only negatives comments I have for this netbook are: (1) The left side of the netbook becomes considerably hot after 45min~60min use. (2) The built of the adapter feels cheap and the DC cord might not last a long time.

I love my little computer! I needed something portable, and this certainly fits the bill. No problem utilizing wireless, runs pretty fast, solid feel. I did upgrade RAM and will add bluetooth soon, but otherwise, good just as it is. The screen is bright and clear, no problems seeing items on the screen. I can hear the fan kick on occasionally, but it is not loud. I bought a sleeve from Lenovo that fits perfectly as it is made for it. No problem with the 6 cell battery fitting in the case, as it does stick out a little more than the 3 cell.

The ease of upgrades is the kicker, and where this little netbook exceeds the competition.
