After 2 months this may qualify as one of the most irritating electronic device I own. All the features are great, good battery life, decent keyboard, okay touchpad (horribly stiff buttons though). The gripe is, after 2 months with this thing, it starts freezing on me every time I use it continuously for more than 2~3 hrs. For a comp that has 5~7 hrs battery life, that's a big problem. What's more irritating and somewhat funny is whenever it's about to freeze the speaker makes this terrible static screeching noise that makes using this thing in a library a real embarrassment if it freezes. The static noise actually appears quite often while trying to load online videos such as youtube stuff, and is generally guaranteed to appear if I load more than 2 videos at once. There's really something wrong with the audio hardware/software on this thing. Allow me to describe a typical freeze: The cursor becomes unresponsive and static noises come out. But when I press hard or knuckle that little space to the right of the touchpad (above the right speaker), the noise disappears and the comp becomes responsive again. As soon as I stop doing that it continues to freeze on me. I've update the bios and every single driver I can find on the ASUS website, and still no improvement. I don't know what the hell is wrong with this thing. Maybe other guys are having better luck with this unit.Get more detail about ASUS Eee PC 1000HA 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive) Pearl White.
