Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RB2S1LEL4RMYZ My name is Jim Dickinson. I bought the MSI Wind U123-003 to use in the field while I work for my computer consulting company, i-SupportDesk, and now I use it as my primary workhorse! I bought a 2GB memory upgrade, a bluetooth mouse, and some USB powered speakers and I am sitting pretty! I have a colleague that has the ASUS 1000HA, another top-notch netbook, but I think we both like the WIND a little better! MSI Wind U100-427 10-Inch Pink Netbook - 2.5 Hour Battery Life This instant

Bought 2 of the wind u100 for my 8yr old daughters.
The netbooks are excellent, setup takes 15mins out of the box, and pretty much everything you require is already loaded.
Battery life is only about 2 hours, but these days your never far from a power source.
If i have one complaint, its that it does not pick up the WIFI that strongly, but that could be my router.
Well worth the money.Get more detail about MSI Wind U100-427 10-Inch Pink Netbook - 2.5 Hour Battery Life.

Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch Gray Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Immediately

>> Saturday, November 28, 2009

Several netbooks including Acer, Asus, HP and etc were considered before buying the S10-2. I eliminated Acer and Asus due to the 'cheap' looking plastic quality of the device and lack of quality support. I ultimately decided on Lenovo S10-2 based on my past experience with the quality of IBM ThinkPad (since Lenovo is the old ThinkPad biz). Also, the support was great when I had a question regarding the product. Also, the OneKey Recovery is a great feature on this NetBook to "reset" without a CD or download.

Battery life is better than expected. Depending on use, I can go as long as 8 hour without recharging.

Overall, I would recommend this product to my friends and family.Get more detail about Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch Gray Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

A Great Investment. Whats with the Bad Reviews?, September 10, 2009

I just purchased my Dell Mini 10 (Blue Cover) and I have to say that this was one of the best investments I ever made. If you think you are getting a high end laptop for the price of three-hundred bucks, then you are sorely mistaken. This is basically a smart phone PDA increased to the size of a ten inch screen with a keyboard attached. Most of the bells & whistles are intact.

At first it took me some time to get use to the screen. Websites are slightly altered due to the 10 inch screen, so and with the tool bar on top that includes (File, Refresh, etc) it can seem like there's hardly any room to view webpage's, but you'll get use to it. Viewing any site that you would on a regular desktop will have certain parts of the page moved around when viewing it on your netbook & this is to be expected because of the size.

I know everyone is complaining about the keypad, but it's really not that bad. It does take a few tries before you realized what works best for you. I've learned from having a Dell Studio Laptop that the best thing to do is just utilize the free space as a mouse and click. Don't bother trying to hit down on the key, but just double tap on the keypad to pick a selection. If you don't, you will find the experience of navigating through websites, typing a document on word, etc to be a horrendous experience.

Otherwise, if you are looking for a great small compact netbook to stay connected to the web, check email, browse a few sites - then this is the netbook for you. There isn't much customization due to the small size of the netbook that feels very light just a little under three pounds and practically smaller and skinnier then the new Twilight book. I would have it ordered it on amazon, but it was cheaper through Dell.

Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase because it's a great investment for anyone who needs internet access on the go. The only complaint I have is the price. I know its three-hundred, but I own a regular laptop with a 15 inch screen & that HP was only three-hundred. Sure, it was not a high end groundbreaking laptop, but it does the trick & power wise, it's stronger than the mini. I really feel the price point should drop by hundred bucks. Otherwise, this is still a great PC tool to have.

Pros:
Light weight (Less then three pounds)
Customizable Cover with different colors
Windows XP (Thank GOD - Vista is so WHACK)
Keyboard is 90% size of a real keyboard
Wi-Fi
3 USB slots
160GB Memory
1.66 GHZ
1GB RAM

Cons:
A bit pricey IMO - It really should be two hundred & under

Asus Eee PC 1008HA Seashell 10.1-Inch Pearl Blue Netbook - 6 Hour Battery Life Buy Now

I purchased this computer and it never functioned correctly from day one. You can only expect good battery life if you turn down the screen brightness so low that you can not hardly read the screen, for normal brightness 3.5 hours is all you get with a freshly charged battery.

Thinking about upgrading your memory or hard drive? Forget It! There is nothing the user has access to, everything is sealed including the battery, this baby needs someone with a big bank account everytime it coughs to afford the repair shop, and its always one thing or another with this poorly engineered computer

Do you think this is a wireless "n" computer? Guess again, it is a scam! The best speed possible is 65 MB/sec and wireless "n" is not a distractor, you can choose wireless a/g or b/g but "n" is not a possibility!

Dell Inspiron Mini 1010 IM10v-USE032AM 10.1-Inch Red Netbook Order Now

>> Thursday, November 26, 2009

Pros:

- More memory than my previous, larger laptop computer. I work in photography and document design, so I need to have Photoshop and similar software to do my job right. There's enough memory on here for all of your necessary work software, and then some.

- Can't beat the price for the memory and speed that you're getting.

- Very pretty color certainly doesn't hurt. My first choice was Ice Blue, but red is nice as well-at least you can skin it.

- WINDOWS XP! Most computers are shipping with Vista, but not this one; software compatibility is no issue here.

- Integrated webcam at the top of the monitor. Microphone sold separately.

CONS:

- The @#$%ing touchpad! You can't turn it off, and you can't turn off tapping (MAJOR pain) either. You need to learn how to type very carefully on this computer, because the Touchpad will make the act of typing an art of surgical precision, lest you upset the sensitive, cheap Taiwanese device. Check the control panel for the touchpad for a lesson in Engrish. Does anyone proofread anymore?

- No CD drive. I understand this is for cost issues, but if there's no CD drive, why do you pack CDs with the laptop? This doesn't make a lick of sense.

- HORRIBLE with a lot of non-Youtube FLVs. YouTube works fine, but other video sites may look choppy, skip, or may not play at all. Even with Firefox!

- Getting things back to Windows settings is a test of patience. The wireless card defaults to the Dell Wireless Utility. When it comes to stuff like this, I don't change what isn't broken. Getting Windows to handle the wireless card and telling Dell to bugger off is a royal pain and you may have to do it more than once.

- Comes pre-loaded with McAfee and Norton. If you don't ever open it, however, (I sure didn't) then you can easily get rid of those hogs through Add/Remove programs.

- This is NOT a very good gaming computer. You can play your Farmville and your other silly Facebook games on it, but good luck getting the next installment of Dream Day Wedding to work-the monitor flickers and flashes when a game is not compatible; this is NOT a computer for those with epilepsy.

- Two forces are at war to control the graphics-the system and the graphics card itself. Don't bother fumbling around with the resolution in the Windows Display settings. Do it directly through the graphics card-it will look nice and won't stretch out text.

- If you, like many other techies, use your laptop as an alarm clock, I suggest you invest in speakers. The speaker in this computer (which I have yet to locate) isn't very loud, so you won't hear your alarm unless you plug third party speakers into the headphone jack.

- Comes loaded with Viewpoint Media Player-known spyware that plays those noisy, annoying video ads in instant messaging programs. Fortunately, it's easily removed.

Maybe most of my cons are more along the lines of pet peeves instead of actual bad things, but for someone not as nuanced with these computers, they could be horrible pitfalls that lead to unnecessary stress, drama, and threats of a computer replacement.

Know what you're getting into before you buy this. If you don't, you'll instantly regret it.Get more detail about Dell Inspiron Mini 1010 IM10v-USE032AM 10.1-Inch Red Netbook.

Sony VAIO VPC-W111XX/P 10.1-Inch Pink Netbook - 2.5+ Hour Battery Life Right now

>> Wednesday, November 25, 2009

I bought several netbooks and this by far is the best. I would prefer black, but I choose the white over brown. It won't be long when they add a CD drive. If you need additional storage space an external hard drive will suffice. I am a name brand person and Sony held their name on this one. Its worth the extra few dollars. The hard drive and picture quality is superb. I do alot of traveling and this little bad boy is a perfect size for that and the appearance is none other, hey its a VAIO! I am a U.S. Contractor and taken this to the sand box (Iraq) and its been outside the wire many times and its built tough like the MRAPs. I do suggest buying a HP sleeve for it cause it fits perfectly and the neoprene is thicker. Get more detail about Sony VAIO VPC-W111XX/P 10.1-Inch Pink Netbook - 2.5+ Hour Battery Life.

Lowest Price ASUS 10.1" Eee PC 160GB Netbook Computer with Windows XP Home - Midnight Blue (1005HA)

>> Tuesday, November 24, 2009

I'm a Mac person. Used to be in tech support and Microsoft's software issues provided for me for most of my 20s, so I'm not a hater, but this review is geared specifically towards people who understand the possible benefits and limitations of a Netbook. This little guy certainly performs up to par, so long as you're not expecting the performance of a PC or Mac laptop.

As a small business owner who not only uses a laptop as my main computer, and travels extensively with it, who is clumsy and had dropped my laptop at least 3 dozen times in the past 3 years that I've had it, I was sad when my MacBook Pro finally died due to my own error. I'm still deciding between models. In the mean time, most of my companies functions are performed online, so I couldn't go more than the weekend without the computer.

So, instead of going on a weekend getaway, I got this little number, and I must say, I'm impressed. There are four laptops and two desktops in my household not including my now-deceased model and this one can go toe to toe with the other older models -- and sometimes win!

If you want to use this feller without the AC cord plugged in, spend a few extra bucks for the model with the longer battery. I always plug my computers in, so a full day battery life is a waste on me. This has a nice long cord too. I would say we're talking six or seven feet of cord.

I've never used the Webcam, so I can't speak on that . I do use screencasting software, like you'd find on [...] - no problems so far. Right now I have Skype open and two instances of Mozilla Firefox with 8 tabs open in one, no problems.

Pros

Small
Light
Attractive - I got it in blue, not too glossy, no fingerprint issues.

Cheap - I got mine on sale at Best Buy when it was out of stock here, and got mine for $[...] if you include taxes.

Fast - out of the box - With the bloatware, it's not as fast as my MBP, but it beats the pants off the other machines in the house, though they're a few years old. That Atom processor is something else.

Of course I have knocked it over twice already. No damages.

HD streaming video on sites like Hulu work just fine.

These speakers kick BUTT. I have yet to plug it into my desktop speakers, which was my only complaint about my MBP, ANY laptop, really.

Cons
Though the keyboard is almost full size, as a touch typist, about once a day I find myself mistakenly hitting keys that make strange things happen. So I had to turn off keyboard shortcuts on Google Docs, etc, but then, I don't use kb shortcuts anyway. In the browsers, it seems to be nothing a little Edit--> undo can't handle.

This is really a pet peeve but the lettering on the alphabetic keys seems to be for the blind. HUGE.

If you tilt the cover too far forward it hibernates automatically.

Switches from AC to battery unexpectedly sometimes when I shift the position. No idea why but it's only for a second.

To wrap this up - if you want a Netbook that can handle several programs open and several in the system tray without stuttering, that feels almost like a regular laptop, this is the one. I've tried many other 10.1 models, and unless you want more battery power, this is a safe bet.

My only regret is that I promised it to my mother when my Mac comes. :-D Come Christmas this will make a great gift.

Save MSI U123-003US 10.2 Blue Netbook - 9.5 Hour Battery Life

This netbook is perfect for what I wanted it for-travel. I can stay on top of e-mail, reservations, etc. Long battery life, great screen, reasonable price, and a decent size keyboard all come together to make the package work. I know some don't like the size of the battery; however, it does angle the keyboard for a better feel and I am more interested in long work life than looks or the "bump" on the bottom. Discount Disney Netpal by ASUS - 8.9-Inch Magic Blue Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life

I bought this for my 7 year old niece, and she really likes it. The set up for the new users is a little confusing. Parents should first create only their user account, and then afterwards create the account for the child using the parental control tool. The manual is sparse, and there isn't any online help at Asus's site yet. As the other reviewer stated, it is somewhat difficult to add programs to the Disney platform. We are still trying to figure out how to add Windows Media Player. The Disney media player is limited in that the screen size is approximately 3" and cannot be expanded. A DVD drive isn't necessary, just use one of the DVD rippers and converters, and save the files to a SD card. Just remember you are paying for the Disney name, because there is no way that I'd buy a 9" netbook for almost $350 for myself when there are better alternatives for that price. Oh well, it is very cute.Get more detail about Disney Netpal by ASUS - 8.9-Inch Magic Blue Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life.

Cheapest ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-PU17-BU 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 10.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter)

>> Sunday, November 22, 2009

It's been 2 days since the release of Windows 7 and this netbook. With one-day shipping, I've been playing with the machine for about 6 hours. So, I have some initial thoughts, but no great insights into battery life or use while traveling (I'll try to update after my business trip next week).

My overall impression is very positive. It's small and easy to use. The keyboard and trackpad work as well as my full sized laptop. I've installed a bunch of basic programs like Firefox and have had no problems. The only minor frustration I have is one of the silly limitations of Windows 7 Starter Edition: you can't change the desktop's wallpaper. It's a silly limitation, but not worth paying to upgrade to Home Premium to overcome.

Along with the netbook, I purchased a 2 gig upgrade: Crucial Technology CT25664AC800 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Module and an external DVD burner: ASUS USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive SDRW-08D1S-U (Black). If you look at the pictures above you can see just how easy it is to install the memory. It did take a little more force than I liked to remove the memory cover after unscrewing the one screw, but everything else went smoothly.Get more detail about ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-PU17-BU 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 10.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter).

Buying Acer Aspire One AOD250-1610 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

>> Saturday, November 21, 2009

I love this ruby red netbook.. It is so pretty and cute and light and works way better connecting to my wireless connection than my regular laptop. The only disappointment was finding out that it did not have bluetooth in it already. You can buy a small bluetooth device though. I finally found a carrying case online that fits perfectly. It does have a multi cardreader which you can transfer info or pics etc through from your other computers so that makes it easier to get stuff in it. I am going to see if my portable USB hard drive, which I use for backup works, which it should because the netbooks is USB enabled. All in all, this is a fabulous little netbook that you can drag from room to room and even to your bed at night or sit outside on your patio or front steps with as well as travel simply. It fits in my purse.

Purchase ASUS Eee PC 1000HA 10.1-Inch Pearl White Netbook - 7 Hour Battery Life

I purchased this computer as my primary machine and I couldn't be happier. It can handle every task I need (although a touch slower than my previous ginormous laptop with Core 2 Duo Processor and Wireless N) the portable size definitely makes up for the difference!

I especially love the built in SD card that hides flush inside the unit - I have a very large capacity card inside and use it as a daily back up to my most precious data. The battery life is incredible and really lasts nearly as long as advertised! I find the screen size perfect...any less would be too small. My only gripe is the feet on the bottom make it so much thicker than it needs to be.

If using this as a primary computer, there are a couple accessories I would highly recommend - portable keyboard (I have the silicone roll-up style), optical travel mouse (I use a Microsoft cordless optical), and an external DVD drive. I am very petite with tiny hands and I even sometimes find typing a lot to be a challenge so the portable keyboard I found is very compact, inexpensive and does the trick when I have a lot of typing. The keyboard really is nearly full size of a standard keyboard but since I type all day on a standard size keyboard at work, using this one throws me off for fast typing. The portable mouse speaks for itself. And although I've had my Eee for 5 months now I just this week purchased an external DVD drive and only wish I'd done it sooner. It is a total pain to transfer installation CDs (Quickbooks, Roxio Media Creator, Office 2007, etc.) from their CDs onto an SD card...you get the idea. Oh, I also did the 2GB upgrade the day I bought it - super easy & cheap, definitely recommend this as well.

Bottom Line: fabulous deal on a great machine and everywhere you go people will marvel and be jealous of your teeny machine amazed that it can do everything their big monster can do! Everyone in my house is jealous and wants one of their own. My lucky 10 year old daughter will be getting one for Christmas this year (shh-don't tell her, it's a surprise!). Where To Buy MSI Wind U123-001US 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Great little unit. Should really have built in bluetooth and Mobile Wireless (aka WWAN). I upgraded the memory to 2GB and put Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 operating system. This O/S and this unit together work very well.

I selected this unit due to the fact that it was a 100% compatible on the Ubuntu website. I am NOT a windows fan and avoid it when I can.

The H/W is light, battery life is good, not as good as advertised. About 4hrs 30mins of constant use with Wifi on.

If you go the Ubuntu route you need to be a little technical as for most people it is a different O/S and you may need some tinkering. I did not need to tinker as it worked 100% after install. I created 4 user accounts on the MSI for the family, including one account that has admin privileges.

With 6 mins of instruction my whole family is able to use this to print, surf the web with firefox and use Open Office which is the opensource equivalent to Microsoft Office.

I have been able to successfully tether my Nokia e71 to Ubuntu and can get on ATT 3G

Once the 11" versions of these hit, I will buy again.

Pleasantly surprised and pleased.Get more detail about MSI Wind U123-001US 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

HP Mini 5101 FM955UT 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Up to 4.5 Hours of Battery Life

I am running VPN of my company or remote connection combine with other two programs and it run ok, so don't be afraid to get one, maybe not for daily use under heavy tasks but great for bussines traveling, it will achieve all your necessities.

The only thing that I don't like is that it is not built in mobile broadband as ad. in HP 5101 FM955UT video, so don't buy it thinking it is inside. I will wait for this interesting option in order to get a new one with the SIM slot ready to use.

MSI U210-008US 12.1-Inch Black Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life Review

This was a great but on my part. The battery life makes this thing great for taking notes in classes. The keyboard on this is really quite and easy to use, if you have never used a netbook keyboard it will take a good day or two to get used to how close the keys are.

the only thing that feels a bit ironic is the tease of an HDMI port on the side, with a 1.6 ghz CPU there is no way you can decode videos in HD, MSI should of just made it S video. but it does more than I was expecting all in all, and it makes a great 250GB mp3 player XDGet more detail about MSI U210-008US 12.1-Inch Black Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD250-1326 10.1-Inch White Netbook - 3+ Hour Battery Life This instant

I've read about this computer on several websites. Amazon.com had the best price. I bought this thing on June 17. By mid-July the screen started to flicker and then died. I troubleshooted this problem by plugging it into my TV proving that it was the LCD screen that had died in less than 1 month. I used my warranty and I had to pay to send it to their service center in Texas. When I got the computer back the screen flickered the same day I got it, so I sent it back to them. The second time I got the computer back the left side hinge for the LCD screen was broken and obviously gouged with a screw driver and it was missing one of the rubber legs on the bottom, so I sent it in again....... I got it back today. Having owned this computer for just over 4 months, only being able to use if for roughly 2 months, they repaired the hinge and replaced the rubber leg with a SMALLER ONE. Now it does not even sit balanced. Very disappointed in Acer. This is my FORTH Acer computer since 1998 and am very disappointed not only in this computer but their repair service. I hope all my writing here helps someone.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD250-1326 10.1-Inch White Netbook - 3+ Hour Battery Life.

MSI Wind U123-002US 10.2-Inch Red Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality

>> Monday, November 16, 2009

Did extensive research into the Wind U100, U120, and, U123 units before purchasing the U123 for my wife.

Inability to expand the U120's 1GB RAMu removed it from consideration. Yes, the U123 required "discarding" the factory 1GB stick for a new 2GB stick, but the U100 wasn't available in RED; the U123 was. If I decide to get a U100 for myself in the near future, then I have the 1GB stick expansion ready. Was fully aware of the unit's inherent tendency to tip back, so no surprises there.

The U123 allows my wife to transfer photos and video from SDHC cards, surf the net, and connect 3 USB devices all at the same time in one unit--something her old IBM T22 couldn't do without a whole bunch of external devices and cables.

Mission accomplished.Get more detail about MSI Wind U123-002US 10.2-Inch Red Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

MSI Wind U100-843 10-Inch Black Netbook - 5.5 Hour Battery Life Get it now!

I'm very happy with this netbook , I have windows 7 and Debian installed in the netbook , it is running very well, good performance, and the battery last about 4-5 hours , the other great feature is that I bought a 24 inches monitor and the resolution that the netbook provides the optimal resolution for the monitor which is great with 1920x1080.

The keyboard size is one of the best you can find for the netbooks, for me is still little but once you get use to it, you won't have any troubles.

the only downside is that I don't like the touchpad , but I solved this problem buying a wireless mouse.

I recommend buying this computer.Get more detail about MSI Wind U100-843 10-Inch Black Netbook - 5.5 Hour Battery Life.

Sony VAIO VPC-W111XX/W 10.1-Inch White Netbook - 2.5+ Hour Battery Life Decide Now

Get more detail about Sony VAIO VPC-W111XX/W 10.1-Inch White Netbook - 2.5+ Hour Battery Life.

Discount Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch Black Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I called up Lenovo and asked them about this machine's bad habit of waking up from sleep mode and running its own battery down while you're not aware. It is a chronic problem that is frequently mentioned in thorough reviews for this model.

Every person I was transferred to played stupid and acted like this problem doesn't exist. I was finally transferred to a tech support person who was willing to acknowledge that this model does indeed have a problem with coming out of sleep mode all on its own, causing it to heat up and drain its battery.

Tech support also confirmed that there is no fix for this problem, and that the workaround/remedy is to not use sleep mode but to use hibernation instead. Hibernation, for those who may not know, is a Windows feature that saves everything in memory to disk before doing a full shutdown and reads it all back into memory when starting back up. Think of it as sleep mode being transferred to the hard drive. It takes longer to hibernate and wake back up because of all the disk reading and writing, but it's actually a cool function and a good alternative. It's also still a lot faster than normal shutdown and rebooting, and still allows you to keep all programs open just like sleep mode. The biggest plus is that your battery doesn't slowly drain while hibernating like it does when it's sleeping. For what it's worth, hibernation works extremely well in Windows XP, I have used it extensively before. Same with Vista.

But regardless, the Lenovo S10-2 does come from the factory with the manufacturer's defect of waking back up from sleep mode on its own, causing it to heat up and drain its battery.

It is possible that what is waking the S10-2 up is the camera. I read a review that said that when the author disabled/uninstalled the webcam software, it improved the situation, but did not entirely solve it. If you go into the BIOS and completely disable the webcam, it might solve this problem entirely. I will try it on mine when it arrives (I bought one anyway).

So anyway, there it is directly from Lenovo themselves - they have very relucantly acknowledged to me over the phone that this is a problem with this laptop, and there is no fix - just the hibernation workaround, which for most, should be an acceptable workaround in most cases (but still a bandaid to a flawed product). I was also directly told that no fix is planned. I would assume that if they release a 10S-3, ti will not bave this problem. The S12 model, however, does not have this "insomnia/wake for no reason" problem when sleep mode is used. Only the S10-2 has this problem. It's too bad, because the S12 battery life is only half that of the 10S-2.

Would have been 5 stars if product had no defects.
Would have been 4 stars if Lenovo acknowledged problem/had fix.
3 stars because this otherwise great model has a well-known defect and Lenovo indeed knows about but won't acknowledge until you rub their noses in it.

Cheapest Acer Aspire One AO751h-1080 11.6-Inch Blue Netbook - 3+ Hour Battery Life

>> Friday, November 13, 2009

When I bought this product, I knew I would be putting Windows7 on it. I think its perfect for what it was designed for, which is surfing the net, email and total portability. All of which it does with stunning perfection. The only thing I wish it had was a slightly better graphic accelerator. It plays video well and thats exactly what I expected. I did purchase a larger battery first off. Now I can easily get 9+ hours out of it without recharging. Its small, lite, bright screen (which is slightly larger than most) large hard drive and 2gigs of ram. The multi-card slot and 3usb ports really make it handy. For anyone that has need for total portability and reasonably powerful computing, this is the machine for you. It should serve well students, teachers, professional on the go and those that just want to sit at the local internet cafe and drink there latte while "facebooking" or "twittering" which seems to be the fastest growing application for this type of machine. Buy it, you'll love it. P.S. I already have "Windows 7" on the way. I cant wait to see the much anticipated improvements that this (according to all in the know) will don my machine with. Purchase MSI Wind U100-641US 10-Inch Black Netbook - 3 Cell Battery

I purchased the MSI Wind brand Netbook originally because the keyboard is one of the very few that is large enough for my fingers to comfortably navigate. I have used it as a portable in the park, in cars, and on airplanes with great success.
I also use it with SKYPE when I am on the road to keep in touch with my family. The 802.11n Wi-Fi is fantastic, the built-in Bluetooth and the video camera are great for video conferencing.
The MSI runs all my work applications and despite the small main screen (perfect for airplane use) runs a projector with ease from the Aux video output port at full projector resolution and with video presentations.
Other reasons I purchased the MSI Wind are that it is easy and inexpensive to expand the memory to 2 GB, install an upgraded Hard Drive, and it also supports other Operating Systems such as Linux and OS-X.
Complaints about the MSI Wind are just 2.
1) The toggle bar for mouse buttons gets a little hard to use during a session because the springs are fairly stiff to prevent accidental clicking. Difficult balance on any trackpad. So I carry a small USB wireless mouse at all times.
2) I wish the Fn (Function Button) was moved one key toward the space bar like all my other laptops from HP and Dell.

Shop For Samsung GO N310-13GO 10.1-Inch Sunset Orange Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

>> Wednesday, November 11, 2009

I replaced a 15.6" Toshiba laptop with this netbook. The compactness and battery life is very nice but it took some getting used to the small screen size of 10.1". I use it mainly for web browsing on my personal wifi network which out works very well. There is a lot of settings relative to battery usage but only 2 screen resolution settings. The speed is acceptable and I liked being able to purchase a computer that still uses Windows XP. I have a Windows XP Compaq desktop that I use as my main computer. I use the Samsung GO as a secondary portable device. Its specifications are similar to other netbooks but I would say the quality is on the higher end.Get more detail about Samsung GO N310-13GO 10.1-Inch Sunset Orange Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

HP Mini 311-1000NR 11.6-Inch Black Netbook - Up to 6.25 Hours of Battery Life

Okay, okay, you've probably read the reviews plastered all over the likes of PC Ragazine, C|Net, and other sites. You've probably seen the reviews that say "Ugh, it can't play Crysis, what's the point?" Forget that. Consider what you're buying - a netbook. A *small*, low-to-middling performance system. It should be fairly power-conservant, but have the horsepower to actually run some applications, browse the Web, watch some videos (even HD, maybe), and play some games (3D games would be nice).

Fortunately, the Mini 311 does everything you could ask for from a system of such small stature. I personally received mine, and proceeded to wipe out its Windows install in favor of the soon-to-be-released Ubuntu Linux 9.10 (aka karmic). So far, I've been nothing but impressed. The CPU, while being low-power, seems to do just fine with everything I've thrown at it - web browsing, e-mail, text editing, office apps (OpenOffice.org 3.1, which is also available for Windows), and even some mid-level gaming (several titles from Telltale Games), music playing, video playback (with nVidia's PureVideo hardware-assist functionality), and so on. It's not going to replace your desktop - but then, that's not the idea. However, if you're sitting on the couch, or want a small computer you can take with you with respectable functionality, this machine is a good choice. You can even hook it up to your HDTV with its HDMI port and watch HD video content - even Blu-Rays, if you get the external BD drive.

I haven't personally put its battery life to the test, but I've heard numbers in the 5+ hour range, and they seem completely reasonable based on my use of mine to date. The Atom CPU draws very little power, and the Ion chipset, though somewhat more power hungry than Intel's, more than makes up for it with the functionality boost it offers.

In short, the HP Mini 311 is a very complete, very functional little system, and for the asking price, it's completely worth it. If you're looking for a netbook with some gaming potential, it's a good choice. No, it's not going to approach a $2000+ desktop system with nVidia's latest high-end graphics hardware, so if you're expecting that, you're going to be disappointed no matter what netbook you buy.Get more detail about HP Mini 311-1000NR 11.6-Inch Black Netbook - Up to 6.25 Hours of Battery Life.

Disney Netpal by ASUS - 8.9-Inch Princess Pink Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life Review

Oh well, it is very cute.Get more detail about Disney Netpal by ASUS - 8.9-Inch Princess Pink Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life.
